Old House Photos - Where we came from

This 1800 Character Home is a storey and a half.  aprox 800+ on the main and another ~500 sq ft upstairs. we are selling it for $1000 plus the cost of moving.  We would prefer it to be gone within the next month or sooner.

The home is located just on the West edge of Rosthern, SK.

These are photos of our home.  It was why we moved to this acreage to begin with.  It is a gorgeous character home.  two summers ago as the water table went up in our area our basement finally gave way and began to fill with water as well.  The main floor and upstairs still remain in great shape.  We were in the process before the flooding occurred of renovating/restoring the home while we lived there. It would have been great to dig a new basement and just move it to a different location on our land.... it just wasn't to be.  Oh well we move on with so many great memories made in that home.

This was one of our better ideas and finds.  A cupboard/drawer recessed into the wall to create more space in the bedroom.  The storage unit is such great quality too... we found out it came from the university when they did renos.  Great Habitat find.

Something else I will definately miss... Our large bay windows in the living room... great place to curl up all year round.

The front door has so much character with the detailed designs.  LOVE IT!

So many summer storms were watched from this front porch! 

I like the bright color of the house I could never bring myself to change it... or just didn't find something I would like better to suit this house.

Prepping the Floors–February 2012

Task – Washing & Sanding Floors

The Process – We had to sand the floor down so that it was nice and smooth.  we used a air palm sander.  We then had to sweep, vacuum & wash the floor several times to open the pours to accept the stain.

What I Thought About It – It was very messy and not that much fun.  It was too dusty.

Hanging Drywall Board–February 2012

Task – Hanging Ceiling Gyprock

The Process – We had to carry it into the house from the garage.  Then we set it onto the drywall lift.  Then we stood on scaffold and put the screws in.

What I Thought About It – It was quite a bit of fun.  I liked having a lift because it made our job a lot easier with 10 foot ceilings.  It also took a lot less time with the lift.
